Monthly Prize Check Guide
Premium Bonds prizes are drawn on the first working day of each month, with results available from around 9am. Here's your complete guide to checking if you've won — and making sure you never miss a prize.
When Are Prizes Drawn?
ERNIE (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment) draws prize-winning bonds on the first working day of each month. Results are typically available by 9am that day.
| Draw Month | Typical Results Date | Eligible Bonds |
|---|---|---|
| January draw | 1st working day of January | Held for full month of November |
| February draw | 1st working day of February | Held for full month of December |
| ...and so on | ||
💡 Important: Eligibility Timing
New bonds become eligible for the draw after being held for one full calendar month. If you buy bonds on 15th January, they first enter the March draw (after being held for all of February).

Checking for Unclaimed Prizes
Over £80 million in Premium Bonds prizes remain unclaimed. Here's how to check you haven't missed any:
- Use the unclaimed prizes checker: At nsandi.com/prize-checker, you can search for unclaimed prizes using holder's number or surname and postcode.
- Check inherited bonds: If you've inherited Premium Bonds, check for any prizes won before you became the holder.
- Look back 6+ years: Prizes can be claimed for up to 6 years, but the record of winning bonds is kept indefinitely.
⚠️ Unclaimed Prize Warning
Prizes must be claimed within 6 years of the draw date. After this, unclaimed prizes are returned to the Treasury. Don't let your winnings go to waste!
Setting Up Automatic Prize Collection
The easiest way to ensure you never miss a prize is automatic collection:
Option 1: Bank Account Payment
- All prizes paid directly to your bank account
- Usually arrives within 3 working days of the draw
- No action required on your part
Option 2: Automatic Reinvestment

Common Issues and Solutions
I didn't win this month — is something wrong?
Probably not. With odds of 1 in 22,000 per bond, smaller holdings often go months without winning. Check your bonds are eligible (held for one full calendar month) and that your contact details are up to date.
My prize hasn't arrived in my bank account
Prizes are typically paid within 3 working days of the draw. If it's been longer, check your NS&I account settings to ensure your bank details are correct, then contact NS&I customer services.
I found an old prize warrant/cheque
Prize warrants are valid for 6 years from issue. If yours has expired, contact NS&I with the details — they may be able to reissue it if within the claim period.
